Excel Forecast Function

Excel 2016 has a Forecast Sheet function that makes it easy to turn a worksheet with past data into a Chart forecast worksheet for the next year or so. Open the worksheet with your data, select the data  then click the Forecast Sheet button (Data Tab) – Excel does the rest for you.

Excel examines all the data in the table - usually includes a column for dates as well as one for the related sales data). At the same time creating a Forecast Chart with dialog box.

You define the options for a new line chart that shows past sales and projected sales. Important to set interval which would be 12 months if a yearly cycle. Excel then creates a line or column chart to show the trends in its forecast. Click the Column Chart icon to the immediate right of the Line Chart icon at the top of the Create Forecast Worksheet dialog box.
